Getting Started with your School Community

Before the work in the classroom begins in earnest, there are a few important steps that you need to take to make sure that the school community is aware of CEPNET, including parents and guardians of the participating students and ensuring that they have given their consent. The students should also complete their own consent forms so that they are aware that they are going to be driving the project.

Explaining CEPNET and Consent Forms

For starters, you need to contact the parents and guardians to let them know about the project. We used some short videos to introduce the project. These might help you to explain CEPNET within your school community.

You will also want to get consent forms signed, again to alert the parents and guardians about CEPNET and ensure that both they and the children are aware and consenting to the project aims. Here are some sample consent forms that were used. It is very important that the children themselves are also included in this process.
